You could say The Green Hare was slightly biased in choosing a Fermanagh Candle for its first box given it is from The Green Hare’s adopted county. However, this is not the main reason and, indeed, there are several.
The pureness of this candle and indeed all of Riversdale Essence’s products is outstanding and exactly what The Green Hare is all about as it is dedicated to promoting and showcasing candles that contain only pure ingredients without paraffin and other undesirable chemicals, which are sadly common in mass-produced candles. Also, and alarmingly, Riversdale Essence was a company unknown to many of the recipients of the September Green Hare Candle Box and quite a few of these folks are from the county it is from. So, mission achieved for The Green Hare in delivering a candle with pure and natural ingredients and also bringing awareness of this talented candle maker in Fermanagh to many.

Riversdale Essence name is inspired from the forestry beside the home of its founder, Leah Robinson, and it is this identity to home, the memories from her childhood and love of stories that are reflected in all of Leah’s work. Leah has a true passion for all things scent and nature, ultimately producing luxury handmade Irish candles and soaps. In brief, Leah has a very creative background as she is a professional ceramic crafter and involved in the performing arts scene. For Leah the journey into candle making is a very personal one and began when she, herself, sought solace from burning a candle as she recuperated after an accident. Indeed, Leah’s first-hand experience of the calmness and healing ambience created by a scented candle inspired her. Following extensive research and work Leah launched Riversdale Essence and her products truly encapsulates her goal, as the outdoors is brought into your home – even when unlit. Leah is proud to announce her products comprise only natural vegan wax and premium fragrance oils.
The Harvest Hay Candle is inspired from Leah’s memories from childhood of playing around the fields as the hay was cut and a child’s perfect playground was created. Maybe this scent will help you reminisce too, but it will certainly refresh you with its notes of fresh hay, smoked wood, amber and honey. Overall Harvest Hay affords us a wonderful sweet honey aroma of smoky incense and an earthy essence. Perfect really, as summer has ended and autumn begins.
